Sustainability is a natural part of our work at Elektro Elco. We are working for sustainable development in which the needs of society, nature and future generations are in focus. We are working on three focus areas: Product, People and Planet. To achieve sustainable development, there must be interaction between these three categories. Our products must not only be made from innovative and renewable materials – it must also be possible for them to be reused and used as raw materials for new products at the end of their lifetimes.
With sustainability in focus, luminaires are developed that are not just good for our customers but also for our environment, our planet – our home. We do it together.
We develop products with innovative, renewable materials that minimise climate impact. Our products are designed to be reused and recycled, which contributes to a circular economy and a sustainable future.
Our employees are our most important resource. We are working to create an inclusive work environment with the focus on development and a strong corporate culture. By promoting diversity and equal opportunities, we are building a dynamic and creative workplace.
Our entire organisation is permeated by a commitment to reduce environmental impact to the greatest degree possible. Energy efficiency is continuously improved, waste quantities are reduced and renewable materials are used. The aim is to protect and preserve the planet for future generations.
Beyond being a leader in modern lighting, we also wish to be a leader in sustainable development. For this reason, we have a sustainability council, which works actively on our sustainability issues. We have performed an internal mapping to identify which of the global goals we should contribute to and work on, on the basis of our activities. The sustainability council ensures that we work in the right direction, towards a more sustainable society.
We work to help you as a customer make good choices. We are working towards a sustainable society and we want to see this become a reality.
Attitudes to how we think about the environment and our products have never been as topical as they are today. We work hard at quality assuring luminaires and giving them a longer life cycle. We have therefore produced a symbol.
A Hide-a-lite choice is our symbol which, through the quality assurance of products, gives you as a customer an easy choice to make to do the right thing for the environment.
Products that carry this symbol meet the criteria that both the LED and driver are replaceable – you can easily take the luminaire apart and replace parts after use and then reuse it. Another criterion is that the product consists of recycled material, such as plastics from the ocean. We reuse more and save the planet’s resources – sustainable over time, for a sustainable society facing a lighter future.
In our product development, we always look at the life cycle of the whole product. Our material must be recycled and/or recyclable. Today, we develop products with DIP-switch, DIP-kelvin or DIP-power, to reduce the number of items and thereby the use of resources. And because we don’t need to ship in as many items, we reduce transport. The products must also, as far as possible, have replaceable parts. By offering the opportunity to replace parts of a luminaire, we eliminate the use of resources needed to manufacture a completely new luminaire, as well as extending the product’s lifetime.
As an employee, we wish to look at the whole person and offer a workplace in which people can thrive and develop. With us, employees have the chance to increase their knowledge through our internal initiative, the Hide-a-lite Business Academy, in which we continuously develop our employees’ skills and commitment.
We also take our social responsibility seriously throughout the value chain and we maintain close contact with our suppliers, so as to ensure social sustainability.

Our vision is to halve our emissions by 2030. We look at all parts of our value chain and we want to influence everything from choice of materials and transport to our own energy consumption. Transport is our biggest source of emissions and we are now working actively on choosing environmentally-friendly fuel for our transport. When it comes to our own use of energy, we minimise unnecessary energy consumption, including by using control systems in our lighting.
