Scandic Kødbyen is a hotel with a room for variety. The hotel is designed to fit into the urban and artistic environment that characterizes Copenhagen's slaughterhouse area, or Kødbyen as it is named – and the lighting is no exception. Black tracklights lead guests into well-appointed livingrooms and loungeareas. Our Focus Track Mega luminaire creates flexible lighting solutions and fits well into the hotel's large and small public spaces.
Inside the hotel's large glassdoors are loungeareas, conference rooms, The Coffee Box café and the restaurant MØR – known for its gastronomic experiences. Find several areas where to sit down, whether for work or a for a meal. Small and large spaces are illuminated with black tracklights. The colours of the hotel's public area have a consistently dark base with modern elements of light wood and stone, even rust. Focus Track Mega is mounted as a pendant installation over marbled tables, leather chairs and sofa groups in the various open loungeareas, and distributes a pleasant general light. Honeycomb screens that stops lateral light in all directions have been used on several of the spotlights to minimise the risk of glare for the visiting guests.
Letting Focus Track Mega illuminate the hotel's public areas was not a difficult choice. Tracklights can create good general lighting, but also accent lighting by focusing the light on something specific to be emphasized in the room. A flexible lighting solution that can be adapted to the use of the room thus fit a hotel with a variety of different rooms. A DALI system also created a lighting control with great flexibility. The lighting can be programmed as needed without changing the physical installation, which is the advantage of DALI. This makes it easier for the user when preselected lighting settings (scenes) can be selected by, for example, a simple push of a button.
